{the silence lasted MUCH longer than intended}

Obviously, my "hiatus" went much longer than planned here on the blog as I
was busy with updating the website and facebook.  This year, I didn't have
a break in between the busy wedding season and the fall rush.

Thus, my new website is still on hold and I decided to tackle it again after
the new year when this year is all finished and tidied up!  So, I will continue
to update facebook and flood the website with the new galleries.

I will post pertinent information here for the next several weeks and hopefully
launch the new blog/website as soon into 2012 as I can.

Stay tuned!  and, I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall
colors we are having despite the craziest summer ever....:)

{shhhh.....}

You may have noticed that it's been very, very quiet here on the blog.
There are actually several reasons for that, but, the main reason is a new reveal.
I have so many wonderful posts to make that I hated to add them here
where they would soon be forgotten.....but, instead opted to wait until they
could make their long-awaited debut on the....
 NEW BLOG/WEBSITE!

It's been a very long time coming and I never could get enough downtime to
get it completed.  So, what do I do?  Jump in right in the midst of my busy, busy
wedding season.  It wasn't entirely poor planning on my end, but a new
state of the art template / server that my beloved provider uses.
{they have THE best customer service ever...thus I waited}

So, stay tuned.  I'm getting very, very close!

 I will leave you with this.  What I wouldn't give to be
on that beach again for a few days.....

But, for now, I have to get back to editing! :)

I think I will try reverse order.  ;)

{welcome spring break!}

Happy Spring Break! I will be finishing up some orders and mail-outs today and then I will be 'closing' for the week to enjoy some time with my family before the spring session chaos consumes me in 2 weeks. :)  My April/May calendar is crazy-busy, but I'm not complaining.  I will be checking in as I can and otherwise, will return all calls/emails asap as well as getting my remaining orders in your hands. :)

{spring cleaning}

I am waaayyyyy past ready for spring here!

Every day as I scour the fields and my favorite shooting locations, I see a
few more blooms on trees, flowers popping up and the grass getting greener
day by day.    I glanced over my calendar and found that I have no open weekends
until.......ARE YOU READY........{because I wasn't}......

N.O.V.E.M.B.E.R.

And, that is with me working heavily on weekends with very
few actually scheduled off.

I am beyond stunned myself.  Thankful, but stunned.

My weekday schedule is already busting at the seams for
spring.   I may be able to sqeeuze 2-3 in for April and May, June has
approximately 4 openings, July 3 openings and August 3 as well.  I'm going
to hold off just a bit before I begin scheduling for the fall season.

For the first time ever, I am seriously contemplating opening for
morning sessions as a way to accommodate additional clients.

So, if you are THINKING you may want to have a session over
spring or summer; I cannot encourage you enough not to hesitate.  I am
super-excited to be utilizing some new areas, new ideas and
seeing both old and new clients!

{senior session giveaway}

I'm am dying to get back out there with my camera, so why not start off with a bang?

A give-away.

And, not just any give away, but an AWESOME 2011 Senior Session Giveaway!!!!

Here are the details, pretty simple really.....

Basically, we all know someone.   We know someone who has experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances.

You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would certainly cherish it.  They just
need someone to capture it for them.   But, at this moment in time, do not have the funds to do so.  Sometimes things can wait.  You can wait until that better day arrives.  But, not with ssenior pictures.  That senior year will not wait until the circumstances change.  When they do,  that priceless time in his or her life will be gone.   On to bigger and better things, but, gone nonetheless.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. $700+ worth, to be exact. And now, it’s in your power to give them the experience and the artwork they deserve.

The rules are few and pretty simple:
  • You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be in need. (Being unable to continue making mortgage payments for a multi-million dollar vacation home at the beach does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
  • The nominee must reside in/be willing to travel to the Fort Smith/south Sebastian County area and must be a senior graduating in 2011.
  • Nominations begin today, Thursday, February 18 and will close on February 28. Winner will be selected and notified on March 1, 2011.
  • Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve a session and a custom portrait. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself. E-mail me the full story: amomentcaptured@yahoo.com.
All details will be kept soley confidential.

Start nominating!

I can’t wait to read all of your entries! THIS IS FOR SENIOR PORTRAIT PICTURES ONLY! Open your heart to someone – and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

I'm soooooooooo excited!

{hiatus}

THANKFULLY, my unanticipated-extended winter hiatus has ended.   With the latest interruption being the flue - it took down my entire family, me being the last to fall.  And, when I fell, I fell hard.  Although not 100%, I am very happy to be back finishing up edits, working on albums and taking care of the influx of orders.

Here's to spring!  I'm constantly scanning those trees for shades of green and I saw the first glimmer yesterday. :)

{Thank You}

Words cannot express an adequate thank you for all of the phone calls, texts, messages, visits, flowers and food this week. The last several weeks have been very difficult, but we got through the service today. It was perfect and beautiful, just as she was. This has been a huge loss for our family, but at the same time we are extremely grateful to have had such an amazing lady grace our lives. She truly has left an incredible legacy.

I have some major "catching-up" to do beginning tomorrow morning. And, although my new phone was received rather promptly, it refused to activate. However, I finally got that worked out as well.

Again, thank you so much!!

{MIA}

and, unfortunately it hasn't been just because I have been busy, busy editing sessions. The last three weeks have been a roller coaster ride for our family. Scott's sweet, sweet grandmother passed away this morning after a very rough few weeks. I lost a precious cousin Thursday evening after a five-year battle with cancer; her services were today just hours after his grandmother passed. I have been at my desk working as time and circumstances have allowed and will be with our family as much as possible in getting through the next few days.

And on an unimportant side note, Friday afternoon, I dropped my {new} phone in soda {yes, again}. So, I have been without it since then, thus no messages and/or texts have been received. It did arrive this afternoon and if I can muster up enough energy, will have it up and running tonight. If not, by morning.

I will post again, once I am back up and running at full speed.

{whew!}

It's been a week! A great week, but a very busy week!! Thus, no blog posts. But, I am determined to get caught up here to give you a glimpse into what I've been up to....

And, as much as I would LOVE to post a sneak peek of my last session....I can't as it is a Christmas surprise! But, wow! Beautiful family! I may have to post this October session on December 26th! {wink!}

{summer's end}

We are sadly saying goodbye to summer here. School starts next week and although technically it is still summer, it's pretty much fall from here on out. {despite the 100+ degree days.}
It has been a flurry of activity with vacation, sessions, editing, uploading, family birthdays and new bookings over the last several weeks. I have a lot to catch up here on the blog - especially all of the new wedding couples I have on the calendar. So excited!
My fall calendar is already completely full for family/children sessions {if you contacted me, you are on the list, even if you have not received the date from me. I have several people looking at same dates and such and I am trying to work through that list - but, WILL get you taken care of!}. I do have one or two wedding weekends open for 2010.
So...
*I am a busy bee wrapping up edits and website uploads.
*I have a new website {still} in the works and will be back to work on that as soon as the boys are spending their days at school.
*I have my 2011 Christmas card templates purchased and will be placing sample cards up for your viewing. So fun!
*I have some super-cute new products to offer!
Be back soon! Enjoy these last days of summer!
I'm looking forward to fall........
{our home is without air conditioning today, so I am REALLY looking forward to fall at this very moment!}

{we are back}

As wonderful as it was to get away, it's always even nicer to return home! We took a much needed vacation down south. Despite me being sick a large portion of the time....it was very nice!

I have yet to upload even a portion of our pictures. But, here are a few! And, our resort had no internet services {I didn't even know that was possible} so I was forced to go into a non-work state. ha!
Now to tackle the emails, messages and texts!

Thank you! I am very ready to enjoy some down time with my family! With my little guy beginning kindergarten next month.....I am in need of soaking the boys up!

{out of office}

Clarification: feel free to call me this week as normal - but, I may only be accessible by email during the dates listed above. Sorry if that was a tad confusing.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!!

{current affairs}

Happy summer everyone!

I am enjoying mine and hope you are as well!

I will be out of the office again this weekend for a beautiful wedding in Fayetteville. I am DYING to show her bridals - so you will definitely need to check back in. If you call me from Friday afternoon on - it may be Sunday evening or Monday morning before I can respond.

As explained in an earlier post - my summer schedule is very limited in order to spend some quality time with my sweet family. My little one starts Kindergarten this year - so I am wanting to soak it all in. Every last ounce of it actually! Although, I have yet to really "feel" the limited schedule as I am busy, busy finishing up the weddings and sessions I've had over the last several weeks. But, I'm getting there. :)

My fall is filled with several weddings and family sessions. I only have room for a few more family sessions, so if you have that in mind - you may want to send me a quick email or call.

And, as far as it seems, looking into 2011 - it is booking with weddings as well. I have approximately 6 openings left. So, if you are thinking.....you may want me to pencil you in until you make your decision.

Also, something I touched on several posts back mentioned "changes to come." I did make a big leap and actually left my full time position at the law firm that I adore in order to keep my life and priorities more balanced. It was a huge, but necessary step for me. The positive impact it will have on the photography will speak for itself I believe. And, although my calendar will be limited to a certain amount of bookings per month - I think it will be a definite win/win situation for all.

And, I cannot close this post without saying a HUGE thank you! The photography aspect of my life has been one of my absolute biggest blessings. I have met families, and brides, and grooms and sweet babies that have left a lasting mark on my heart. Sappy, I know, but so true. I have made dear friendships that will last a lifetime. Something I never take for granted. So, to everyone, thank you again for your support and patience as I am transitioning to make these changes happen!
I appreciate it beyond words!
